Mint Threads
WHAT IS A THREAD AND HOW DOES IT WORK IN THE SKIN?
Threads are specialized, dissolvable fibers made from biocompatible materials like polydioxanone (PDO), polylactic acid (PLA), or polycaprolactone (PCA). These materials are commonly used in medical sutures and are well tolerated by the body. Threads are inserted under the skin to provide a gentle lift, creating an immediate tightening effect. Over time, as they dissolve naturally, they also stimulate collagen production, resulting in firmer, rejuvenated skin with improved elasticity.
HOW THREADS WORK IN THE SKIN
When threads are inserted, they are strategically placed within the deeper layers of the skin, where they act as a supportive scaffold.
This process offers two main effects:
• IMMEDIATE LIFT AND CONTOUR SUPPORT:
Threads have tiny barbs or cones that anchor into the skin tissue. When gently lifted and positioned, these barbs hold the skin in place, creating a subtle lift in areas with laxity, such as the cheeks, jawline, or neck. This mechanical support helps contour the treated area and provides an instant, visible lift.
• LONG-TERM COLLAGEN STIMULATION:
As the threads settle into place, they gradually stimulate the body’s natural healing process, prompting increased production of collagen and elastin fibers around the threads. This collagen boost gradually strengthens and thickens the skin, enhancing its elasticity and resilience over time. As a result, even after the threads dissolve (typically within 6–12 months), the skin retains a more youthful structure and tone due to this regenerative process.
