A Great Alternative to Laser Removal!

With this new procedure laser removal of a tattoo is no longer the only choice available. The problem with laser is that it can only treat a limited range of colours, leaving others colours virtually untouched. This new procedure is “colour blind” and will remove all colours including the most exotic hues and pigment blends.

Laser removal of tattoos also poses several risks associated with the types of ingredients used in manufacturing a pigment colour. Laser removal creates a tremendous amount of heat generated towards the ink pigment molecules, which is literally exploded into smaller pieces, potentially allowing the release dyes and chemicals into the bloodstream. Some of these chemicals and dyes have been considered dangerous to one’s health by many industries. These obliterated fragments of pigment have been known to get trapped in the body’s lymph nodes and liver. There is some concern that these by products could cause health problems later in life.

This new alternative technique relies on the body’s natural healing response to reject the ink from the body in the form of a scab. The ink is gradually removed over several treatments.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What type of tattoos can be removed?

A: all kinds, including whole tattoos, parts of a tattoo, clearing an area for replacement tattoo artwork, disguising a previous solid colour cover up, or for reshaping of eyebrow or lip tattoos.

Q: How does this method differ from Laser?

A: this removes all colours (it's not 'colour blind' like laser is). It requires fewer treatments and is less painful than laser. It is also cheaper than laser - due to the lower number of treatments and it won't damage your natural skin colour (pigment).

Q: How many treatments does it take?

A: Please contact Skinmedics for an initial consultation. Generally the average size tattoo (12cm x 12cm) will require at least 4-5 treatments however this relies on a variety of factors such as skin type, age of your tattoo, your age, the amount of present pigment, location of tattoo and any history of previous attempts to remove the same tattoo.

Q: Is it as painful as Laser?

A: no, most patients say report that it is not anywhere near as painful as the original tattoo. Generally it will depend on how close to the bone your tattoo is located.

Q: What is the approximate cost?

A: the cost will depend on the size of the tattoo and will be determined once you have had your consultation - see below.
